I will go against the consensus here, I find while they smoke good and cool, they are a pain to clean, you MUST buy the special pipe cleaners for them. They are so unwielding that they end up becomeing dust collectors for me, they sit on my display shelve and rarely get used. Just my humble input.

I kind of go along with you strongirish.

I go through phases.

Mine sat on the shelf probably for the better part of a year.

I was fed up with one and put them all away.

But, I decided I would give'm a good cleaning, and pulled out the stinger that was in one.

I now smoke them in a rotation almost every day.

I noticed a couple of comments about the length of churchwardens being a deterrent over time (not travel friendly, special pipe cleaners, etc).
This was one of the primary reasons why I decided to buy a Stanwell HCA when I got my churchwarden. The Stanwells come with an additional short stem (so you can continue to enjoy the pipe even when you don't want the hassle of the long stem).

Following the white rabbit
I had three CWs but broke one of them beyond repair. I love smoking them.
The one at the bottom of this photo is the now dead soldier.

The CW in this photo is a Comoy's Comet. It's a great smoker even if the bowl does have an odd shape.

I enjoy watching other people smoke a Churchwarden Pipe, but they

are not for me. I have Pipes that are certainly as long as any

Churchwarden and they get smoked infrequently, as I find I cannot

smoke them and do much of anything else. Just the same, if I ever

acquire another Clay Pipe, it will be a Churchwarden shape as it

does help the smoke cool before getting past the button.
