Ok, so I came across some pics of Neerup pipes. Really? Are we just drilling two holes in a block of wood and calling it a pipe now? I've never made a pipe in my life, but I'm pretty sure I could make one of these on my first try.

In the original post, I kinda like the last pipe & could imagine it fitting in my hand. (It does look like a paperweight with a stem growing out of it though.) - As for the examples above it - - not so much.

Îm not into these shapes neither but I guess the point is not so much the craftsmanship but rather the natural beauty of the wood. The grain on that Savinelli is pretty awesome IMO.

I'm with thomasmartin, that's killer grain on the Sav. Most of those are a little past my limits (swoopy Danishes notwithstanding), but I can see they'd have appeal for a lot of people. Chacun a son gout....
