For quick hot water scrub - you think this would be efficient? Stainless steel scrubbing sponge - it's not like steel wool(much softer like christmas tinsel wound up) you think it will react and leave a foul metallic taste in the bowl?View attachment 89484
why don't you scrub might i ask? no need?
I do scrub, but with pipe cleaners, shank brushes, and paper towel wadding for the bowl. I don't want to use anything that might abrade the wood surfaces, especially in the mortise and airway, since that would ruin the fit between the shank and the stem.
However, for the benefit of science, you could try out this material on your pipes and report back to us how you do. I've no objection to trying out new techniques. I've been a pioneer in my vocation and have the arrows in my back to prove it. I've used steel wool on antique restoration, but this does seem a wee tad like overkill.
