My lovely bride and I were at Target today picking up this and that. Going through the kitchen section we came across 4-packs of those great 8-oz Ball jars -- the really low ones with the wide mouths that perfectly contain the contents of a 50g/2oz tin. These usually go for $10 a package in any store where I've seen them -- they were on sale for less than $4! Less than a buck a jar. Less even than Target's online price.
I very happily bought two packages. The broader implications?
I've got a few tobaccos I've been wanting to try, but that I know won't be heavily in rotation. I've been holding off opening the tins becuase I cannot always store the remainder in a way that keeps it well -- EXCEPT in these jars -- and I had all mine in use.
So now I've sampled two tins I've been holding onto -- Dunhill MM 965 and 10 Russians -- enjoyed them both VERY much (965 burning now; that 10 Russians -- whoa) and have been able to safely jar the rest of the contents. So, this week is Try Something New Week -- untl these 8 jars are full.
These are the jars -- essentialy resealable glass tobacco tins. And they stack nicely too. EIGHT OUNCE WIDE MOUTH BALL JARS

Should buy more. I thought I would have enough but always ran out fast.

Guys those jars can come in real handy for their size, BUT...They don't stack at all. I know it looks like they should...but I know from using them. I stack them between quart jars to hold them up.

If you like plug tobacco these jars are perfect for keeping plugs from drying out. Just the right size to store a single plug and still be able to get it in and out.

You know, mcitinner1 is right about the stacking, really. Works for me given the shelf I use. But yes -- they actually do want to slip if left on their own.

Tslex, I have about 8 or 10 of these in use right now, they are indeed just the right size for sealing a single tin, Ball also makes a size that is twice as big that is perfect for sealing up 100 gram tins as well. As a side note...I purchased an extra pack of lids so I can easily reuse these jars more or less indefinitely with no ghosting from the blend that was previously in the jar.

Like others, I use these same jars as well. I have about 12 blends in my rotation right now that are in these. They are fantastic!
+1 on philobeddoe's comment on the next size up. They will fit a 3.5 oz MacBaren tin (or any other 100g's worth) perfectly! I have several of the HH blends in the larger wide mouth jars.

These are my go to jar, I find them in Walmart for roughly $4.25. Only problem is they only put 4 to 6, 4 packs of them out at a time so its hard to actually stock up.
If your looking to stack these, try a pyramid instead of consistent rows and columns.

I picked a few of those jars last time target had a sale on them for $3. I'm extremuly happy they sell them for so cheap, even cheaper than Amazon, which I feel rarly happens! I do wish they locked in place when you stack them, but I still really like them!

I'm glad you have had good experience with these. Before I moved my cellar from jars to Mylar, I had many of these jars. Though I loved the functionality of the wide mouth, I found that they did not stack well for me. Maybe they have refined the design a bit since then.
I should revisit, as I still keep a couple jars for storing the active rotation.
