Why Is Capstan So Much More Expensive Than Orlik?

Never been a virginia man, and through my numerous attempts at smoking Orlik GS, I once had a brief moment of my tongue not burning and getting an incredible taste that I've never forgotten. I'm interested in trying it again, and when looking on 4noggins I saw that Orlik is $9 and Capstan is over $15. Whats the deal here? Aren't they similar?

My guess, only a guess, is that the wholesale cost is higher. Or, there is more demand so a higher price is indicated.

I'd suggest you ask a retailer/vendor unless you'll be satisfied with a bunch of guesses like mine.

I suppose MB considers Capstan to be a premium blend. No idea if the quality of last justifies that or not. Capstan is good tobacco. Interestingly enough, you can buy Capstan bulk from Estervals at a very reasonable price.

I think It’s brand recognition, I think Capstan can get away with higher prices due to its history. I actually like OGS better than Capstan so it’s a win for me. (This is just my opinion of course)

Well, tobacco IS a gift from God. We need to blame the ones who process it and turn it into all kinds of nigh unsmokable stuff, such as latakia.

The Capstans are not the same as OGS. The Capstans, even before Mac Baren made it, were always higher priced than OGS.

This must lead to production efficiencies and therefore a lower price. Also, with the OGS being such a staple blend, the price would be kept lower to maintain demand.

Both are very good solide blends, and yes OGS is among most popular pipetobaccies in DK, I may think I like this Orlik better especially in the summer, another one which I like is Reiner long Gold ,though I'd liked if it was sold also in 50gr, quite pricey stuff you see,

I buy my tobacco in Denmark. Capstan and OGS cost the same there. Where I buy it, OGS actually costs a little bit more.
That is because there is anti smoking legislation, intentionally driving prices up to keep people from smoking. So prices in Denmark are not indicative of demand or popularity of a blend. An OTC is only marginally cheaper than tinned blends.
This is not intended to start a discussion on legislation.

For my money q .92 cents per bowl of Capstan Blue Flake is a heck of a bargain compared to any 1.00 cigar on the market.

I'd say the process of capstan costs more because to me it seems it has to be pressed longer. Also may have more or more expensive varieties of VA
