Man I’m happy to hear all is well with our gulf coast members. Noticed you said you live 10mi. South of Lafayette. Man it’s been a while but I used to live pretty close to that area myself. This was back around 1999-2000. I’m one of those damn Yankees from Pennsylvania and have been my whole life. But in 1999 I moved with 2 friends to a little town called Church Point La. If I remember correctly it was just a couple miles off of route 10 at the Rayne exit. Worked at an environmental recovery company that had us working all over the gulf coast for about 2 months at a time. When the job was done we’d head back to Church Point for a month or 2 and work around the shop until the next job was ready.

I’ll never forget my time in south Louisiana. You old Coon ass/Cajun fellers are some of the best people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. And I Genuinely mean that. I sometimes wish I’d have chosen to stay down there. I really miss those days. I miss all the good food too. We eat good up here in the north but I can’t lie. Getting to hang out at a few of my co-workers house’s, while watching and Learning how to cook authentic Cajun food prepared outside on the weekends, and drinking cold beer was something special. You guys really know how to make a proper feast. Crawfish, crab boils, huge pots of gumbo. Man I ate like a king. I actually got to spend some time in Lafayette, and Baton Rouge too. Getting to see the Atchafalaya basin from the elevated highway on route 10 was always a beautiful site. Any way. I just wanted to say hello from a damn Yankee who got to learn to live like a Cajun for a couple years. I was 22-23 years old back then. Couldn’t have picked a better way to get away from my old home town and see parts of the country. It was definitely a growing experience that helped to mold me into the person I am today. I know there are a few guys here from south Louisiana. Cheers fellas. 🍻🍻

Meant to check back in yesterday. We saw a lot of mostly light rain and some gusty winds but nothing any stronger than a summer thunderstorm. If fact, I think I only heard thunder twice.
No damage to the house (I just had the shingles replaced in April) and we didn't lose power.
