When to jar freshly opened tobacco?

So how quickly after opening a tin do you put your tobacco in a Mason jar?

I tend to smoke my pipe infrequently enough--and my tastes are varied enough--that it takes me a while to finish a tin.

While I understand there is value both in immediately jarring the tobacco--and in letting it dry out a bit--how long do you wait? I cracked open a cellared tin one week ago today and am wondering whether it should be jarred now.

Depends. I used to jar immediately, but these days I tend to open a tin and smoke it until it’s done.

Still, I only smoke a few bowls per week currently, so my current tin I will finish tomorrow has been opened for 5 or 6 weeks?

I smoke a tin in a few days so I don't jar. I do jar my bulk.

I jar it after 2-3 weeks. If aromatic (and moist), typically don’t feel the need to jar.

I've been told that a freshly-opened round tin will be fine for 6+ weeks, and a lot of blends actually taste better with a few days of airing after the tin is first opened, so there's no hurry to jar it up the same day you open it.

I jar right away. Is it necessary? No, but I do it anyway.

I never jar a tin that I’m smoking from. Even if it takes me a few months to burn though it. If I am wanting to age the tobacco, I just don’t open it. YMMV

I like mine dry. And it takes way longer than you think for a blend to actually go stale. I’ve never ever had tobacco go stale on me.
