By the way....... been gone for a few months- damn work, 80 hour weeks this summer!

but what a great list going here! Brian 64-- Those Elton songs hit the spot....... it's been too long.

Dino, the Delaney and Bonnie and Santana links were awesome.....

Good stuff here folks.... 2 more weeks and my busy season is done, looking forward to getting back into the fray!......... :D

Our conversation earlier this evening had me back reading this thread, Dino. Loved the Willie Nelson piece. I wonder if Carlos Santana's band at Montreaux was his own. Really good.
I've been listening to this mashup of Springsteen's "The Ghost of Tom Joad" and Woody Guthrie's "Do Re Mi" by Mumford and Sons and Elvis Costello. I discovered Mumford and Sons a year or so ahead of their commercial success via hypem.com, which tracks music being most blogged about. They've remained a favorite for me. Add Elvis Costello? Awesome.

Thanks, Craig. That's what pipe club meetings are all about, having a bowl and engaging in conversations about all manner of things. And, welcome back Beef.
I was listening to John Coltrane on this the 92nd. anniversary of his birth.

Here's his incredibly powerful composition, "Alabama" in a live performance on the NET program "Jazz Casual" December 7, 1963. The group includes McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones and Jimmy Garrison.

An old friend, sadly now no longer whinnying with us -- Dan Seals (Jim's younger brother) doing One Friend. Hard to believe he's been gone 10 years now. :(
