At first I thought this was a joke thread....and it could be seen as extremely facile. But as a photographer who has only recently starting working in colour, I can tell you that it is a vital and much-ignored part of life. At University I took a class on the ethnosemantics of colour which was fascinating. One colour which does stick in my mind, which I am sure does with everyone who has seen it, is the shocking green of ripe ricegrasss in the sun just after rain. A truly sumptuous and unforgettable colour. I vividly remember taking a high speed train from Haikou to Sanya last February, standing at the door, staring out at paddy-field after paddy-field in the foreground surrounded by mangroves, mountains in one corner and a Southern Ocean in the distance.
