After taking a break from cigars and pipes for just over three months, I’m excited to be having a smoke in a pipe that represents second chances.

I had been eyeballing this pipe on the smokingpipes.com website for awhile, but was between checks and couldn’t pull the trigger on getting it; the July 4th sale was happening and somebody snagged it when I couldn’t. I was pretty disappointed.

Sometimes, life throws a monkey wrench into your plans and if you’re lucky, you deal with it and carry on.

On July 19th, I was stuck in a bed with not much to do except be in that bed. I was checking out the smokingpipes site and the pipe that I was drooling over just a couple weeks earlier reappeared! Maybe it was bigger than the buyer expected (it measures over eight inches in length) and it got returned. I took this as a sign and ordered it immediately. I seized my second chance.

Having Cornell & Diehl Exclusive (courtesy of @PaulRVA ) in a sandblasted Savinelli Autograph Fan (with a finger hole).

I recently bought a pound of Exclusive to dedicate to this “Second Chance” pipe:

Paul, thank you for your generosity and friendship—words don’t suffice. I’m carrying on.

Did some low calorie snacking, and am smoking year 2010 Amphora Original (Brown) in a full bend barley sandblast Peterson 125th Anniversary 1898-2023 No. 172/330 302 brandy military mount with a silver band and a black vulcanite p-lip saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Watching a early Roy Rogers movie.

Night time along the beach, the tide is high and my best ever home blend is singing 🎶 perfect notes in this 49 Dunhill pot. This a blend utilizing a small amount of Lane Base tobacco, blending Latakia, Perique, Turkish, smyrna, Maryland, and some green river cavendish with a touch of cherry- pressed and aged and now it holds its on with the best I own.
