A teaser-Rutland of Jutland became the most prominent and knowledgeable person on the planet about aircraft carriers and you’d think the British Royal Air Force would have promoted him.

Instead a superior RAF officer stole his wife Dorothy so Rutland took the high born officer’s wife also named Dorothy and retired young and went to work for Mitsubishi. Yes, that one that designed the Zero. But at the end of that chapter he’s about to move his new family to Japan from France and the Kyoto Earthquake happens.

This calls for an Algerian Briar (Old French Briar) superfine polished early twenties Baron by K.F.S. made in the USA filled with Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic.

Look at the oxblood, a sure sign of the best old French briar from Algeria.

Just over a quarter of a bowl left of year 2020 Peter Heinrichs Golden Sliced in a pre-1940s straight smooth brown Sutliff St. James (Comoy’s) spiral billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Decided I did enough cleaning for one night. I may have another estate pipe ready tomorrow with some luck. It'll take me months to get them all cleaned, and I still have other pipes that a friend had given me a while back that need cleaning. They'll have to continue to wait along with quite a number of cleaned ones that I haven't smoked because I couldn't figure out what to smoke in those old pipes. More often than not, I'll probably clean some of the easier ones. The 1923 Dunhill needs more work than I expected, but I'm working on it.

Fed all the ferals except for Abner the Eager, who left after the storm passed. M'lady fed Molly Danger and Sleepy Suzy, who is by my side. Low calorie snacking follows this smoke.

On a hunch, I tried the loose two pack rather than a half-bowl in quest of avoiding a super-long smoke, as outlined in my last post. I put in a gravity feed loose two pack (taught to me by a forum member to whom I'm very grateful) of TobaccoBarn's Coastal Cruise, a very mild English type of tobacco, one of the mildest in my stores. i put the tobacco in my Rhodesian Brigham, an entry level pipe with a great draw and one of the most comfortable pipes in the hand I've ever felt. The bowl is large, about the same capacity as my Savinelli Avorio, but doesn't have quite as deep a trench. The loose pack I use takes about roughly 5/8 the tobacco as the standard three pack milkshake draw we all started with, probably, eh?

The short of it is that I had a terrific smoke and stopped at roughly an hour. Could have streched it out some more but . . . nahhh, it's what I wanted. Perfect for the evening, and this method really gives maximum flavour to the fodder and saves a lot of tobacco to boot.

This is the way I'll go with the big guns, methinks! unless I'm listening to an opera or a moronic sci-fi or dubbed Chinese Kung Fu flick from the 70s. Got to grow up one day, eh? But not today!

By the way, if you're looking for a great smoking cheap pipe that takes a lot of abuse, have a boo at this line! I got mine for $57 plus shipping from Smokin'Pipes and the last time I checked, they were the same, but that was a while ago. Bargoon!!

Enjoyed some snacking, and am near the last quarter of this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Watching the first episode of Man with a Camera starring Charles Bronson. Not too hot.

A third of a bowl left of first production Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a straight smooth brown undated Gesandt Canadian Made in England with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was originally owned by Poul Schluter, who was the Prime Minister of Denmark from 1982-1993. It's 50-50 whether I have another smoke before bed time. Watched an episode of The Lawless Years. Ho hum.

View attachment 378931View attachment 378932Exclusive in a Savinelli Punto Oro 626. I’ll play the pipe selfie game with y’all.

I cut my beard yesterday and left the ‘stache… wife and daughter hated it. LOL. Ended up going clean shaven. Can’t win em all, boys.
Though short lived, it was looking pretty epic. You should've kept the 'stache! I get it though, my facial hair is often up for discussion in my household.
