Relaxing after a wonderful salad, cod and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm smoking and reviewing C&D XXV Reserve: Dusk (Small Batch) in a 2003 medium bent Ural meer with a lined and etched egg shaped bowl with a silver band and a pearl brown acrylic saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink on this very humid evening and review session. I mostly have a handle on these blends now. Watching the Padres-Phillies game.

Getting ready to watch the broadcast of UFC on ESPN: Derrick Lewis vs. Tallison Teixeira, taking place at the Bridgestone Arena, in Nashville, Tennessee. Having Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding in a Briar, Sweat, and Tears (BST) Large Curve (LC) Swan Neck 3/4 Bent Billiard.

My little 1:12 scale room isn’t quite done. I’m waiting for several items from Spain, that were already supposed to be here, but got delayed in transit/customs; they will supposedly be here early next week, but I was anxious to share my little project sooner than later. This started out as a nod to @AreBee with his Syroco thrift store find, and @PaulRVA ’s little Oriental rug, often featured in his pipe photos. I posted a photo with a Syroco chair pipe rest and a less than ideal Oriental rug without real fringe a month or two ago. @Choatecav was following with interest. Not wanting to do things half-assed, I dove down the rabbit hole and decided to take things to the logical extreme and make this fun with all sorts of details (that are mutable). I got a little rug with fringe and decided I needed a room to put the chair and rug in; a smoking chair needed an end table next to it; a table needed a lamp; walls needed wallpaper, outlets and light switches, and so on. @Briarcutter was absolutely right—this could go on forever adding different items; I followed his prompt of mentioning pets, and decided my room needed to include a 1:12 scale version of our Chihuahua, Wasabi. The picture frame on the end table has pics of @JimInks and @sablebrush52 for now; other members might make appearances in these spots in the future.

It's medium strength, maybe a tad stronger. The Kentucky is noticeable, but not as much as the Latakia and Orientals. I gave it three stars when I reviewed it.

A number of English blends have Kentucky in them, but they call them English blends just the same. Guess it makes it easier for them to say so.
Got a package today with Erik Stokkebye 1882 Founder’s Blend. Gave it a try — first third is quite Latakia-forward, but it mellows out as you go. The Kentucky is rather subtle, almost unnoticeable. I’d say it can be loosely categorized as an English blend overall.
P.S. I browsed some of the forums and saw folks comparing it to SG’s Squadron Leader. I can kind of see the resemblance, especially in the softer profile. Though to be honest, I haven’t touched SG Squadron Leader in ages — not since the whole post-2015 tragedy at the Samuel Gawith factory and Bob Gregory’s departure.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of Ken Byron Ventures Mr. Christian’s Brown Flek 2021 in a straight smooth dark brown year 1933 Parker Super Bruyere patent 10 T 81/F lovat with a black vulcanite saddle stem.
Something about lovats. Just seems like they're ... solid ... dependable ... not necessarily flashy ... troops that always do their job, always there, and have great loyalty inside "pipe world".

To me it's more like Aperitif. A criminally underrated blend in my opinion.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am smoking Wilke Surbrug’s Crystal Palace in a dark brown smooth straight post-WW2 LHS Certified Purex 79 bulldog with a nickel ferrule and tenon with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Daisy the Feral Princess is laying by my feet. Harry the Hairy is chasing a moth.
