Near the half way mark of this bowl of year 2020 H&H Chatham Manor in a straight black sandblasted, smooth dark brown top bowl 2021 Jim Brown stack Rhodesian with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Did some traffic cop feeding of the ferals, and have settled down to watch the Orioles-Rangers game. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is feeling better and is with m'lady. Daisy the Feral Princess has regained some of her appetite. Hope we get good news on her later this day.

When Susan and I closed on our Pennsylvania house in August of 2020, it was on her birthday. We celebrated with the exquisite Japanese Blended Whisky, Hibiki 21. These were her tasting notes at the time (which were very accurate):

On June 27th, we closed on a new property and celebrated late, last night, again with Hibiki 21:

It was still just as amazing.

After our drink (and some snacks), as part of the closing celebration, I had planned on smoking a virginal pipe that a very dear friend recently gifted me, but I got tired and konked out. Today, we had a bunch of things to take care of (not to mention work), so I’m only just now settling in to relax and have a smoke. Having Savinelli 145⁰ (2024 Edition, numbered 1,751/2,500) in this beautiful gift, a smooth, Savinelli Autograph 6 Fan with black acrylic stem.

Congrats!

Good whisky right there. I have a close friend that often breaks this out on his birthday. Congrats on the new place.

Last one for me tonight...

Near the last quarter of this bowl of year 2016 D&R Two Timer Gold in a straight, black sandblasted pre-1970 Comoy’s Sunrise Etched Grain straight Liverpool 309 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Going to take a break from reading baseball box scores to feed Tomato the Brave, and Daisy the Feral Princess if she wants to.

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2000 SWRA in a straight smooth 2024 Peterson Red Killarney 264 Canadian with metal accents around the shank and a black acrylic p-lip stem. Everybody's fed, box scores are read, and I'm reading while this bowl lasts. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Daisy the Feral Princess jumped up on my lap for attention, but Suzy hissed her away. Molly Danger did the same when she was on m'lady's lap, and Harry the Hairy tried the same thing Daisy did with the same result. Tomato the Brave and Abner the Eager went outside about ten minutes ago.

July 1. The beginning of a new month. And some very good news in Skippable Drivel. I'll keep it short, and had my usual morning smoke. You've seen it before, almost every day. But, here it is anyway:

And for good measure, my smoke last evening:

I took out my Ropp J06, filled it with Sir Walter Raleigh, and had about the best smoke I've had in a month. Wonderful pipe, wonderful tobacco. For the good news, Skippable Drivel below.

Skippable Drivel: The Good News

I spent two nights ago in intense pain. The catheters were not draining into the leg bag because of urine mixing with cellular debris and the 3 catheter debacle was obviously an incorrect diagnosis. I told them that at the time.

I went to the hospital in the early AM yesterday. Because I'd been there just late last evening, at my request, and agreed upon by admittance, I was sent directly to emergency, where the doctors and nurses know what they are doing and have to have results.

The attending junior physician agreed with my assessment and said he'd be right back - he was back within minutes, and said that the Head Honcho completely agreed with my analysis and observations and to get that medieval torture device out now. This happened right away, and the nurse that was in attendance withdrew the catheter without my feeling a thing, and without enjoying it. She was all business.

I had a number of other tests, including one for bladder infection, which I had bigtime, because of cellular debris that mixed with urine and was too thick and coagulated to pass through the tubes leading to the legbag.

Making a long story short, I was given a course of a very powerful antibiotic, and sent home already feeling much better because I could evacuate my bladder. Got the prescription from the pharmacy of the same stuff, which was marked "aggressive."

It is that. I have to take it for seven days, and it takes effect within a half hour (have to take it at 2 pm. A seven day course only.) It has an immediate effect of detachment and disorientation which lasts for about an hour, and then wanes. I'm already feeling much better and way more positive. This is the skinny, and I'll stop here. The rest is bibble and babble and is just going to take some time and patience.

I'm still going to be erratic on forum for a bit, and still feeling a bit disoriented right now, but want to thank all of you for your concern, prayers, and well wishes. Going to crash for a couple of hours, and try to get back late tonight and catch up on a few posts, etc. Till then . . . . . .

luv gord

Prayers for you friend Gord. I wish you a speedy recovery. God bless you Gord.

It's finally cooled down in the wee hours in Texas, so I'm outside enjoying some Lane Ltd Macanudo in a Santambrogio. This is easily my largest-bowled pipe, and I like the contrast between the hefty bowl and relatively skinny shank and stem. Absolutely super smoker! Drink is this new-fangled Sprite Chill Zero. It's not half bad. Cheers!

Peterson Sherlock Holmes Lestrade (P-Lip, 9mm)
Smooth finish, silver band, classic full bent shape. The stamp is partly worn, but the markings and features suggest an early-to-mid 2000s production. Made from quality briar typical of the SH series — solid grain, not overly figured, but well-cured and durable. A reliable smoker with great balance — a true workhorse from the Sherlock Holmes line.IMG_4750.jpegIMG_4699.jpeg
