Another day closer to my inevitable and much anticipate retirement. But first I have to clear the back log of sh*t I didn't deal with yesterday. This morning will be a two pipe problem so I have dragged out a small Weezell meerschaum so that I maintain my sense of humor along with my usual and sort of favorite meerschaum and amber 'cutty' with meerschaum butt plug to enhance coloring. As the label suggests I am finishing up the remains of a pouch of Condor Ready Rubbed or was that 'Rub Your Own'? I never can quite remember, but no matter. This last week has been devoted to finishing up work projects and open tins/plugs of tobacco. Enjoy your morning gentlemen and I will look in later.

I didn't realize lawyers retire; rather, they just scale back the practice on an "as needed" or interesting issue basis.

Best of luck in your lengthy adjournment.

Sharing a pizza and pipe with a friend. I’ve got the revival 308 with Paul’s Arrowhead and a meat lover’s while he’s got my premier 314 with a blend from a local tobacconist and a ham and pineapple.

What's the "go to" pizza place now that DeLuca's shut down? Before I left town (after 18 years), I "toured" various restaurants that I enjoyed. DeLuca's was the last meal.

Esoterica Tilbury, thank you to SBC, in an extra large chambered Johs semi-rusticated slightly bent apple thanks to my wife on Christmas 2010. This is one of the finer tobaccos I've enjoyed this year, very good indeed.

I'm planning to rise a little early to put out the flag for July 4, though I may go back to bed after that.

On the subject of retirement, I highly recommend it. However, I would caution you that when you begin to plan your own days and get out of your old career rut, you may find you are busier than before. I thought I'd be deciding whether to read a book or take a walk, and that hasn't been the way it has turned out. Just take an extra B12 and enjoy yourself.

I retired from practicing law as a litigator after 43 years in May and must say, I've found plenty to do around the house. I've also been catching up on movies and reading--it's a pleasure to read things other than case law--socializing, and am planning a trip to Europe and Africa in September. My stress level is almost non-existent, I'm sleeping better and I've even found myself smoking less than I did before. I would highly recommend it as well.

I couldn’t remember DeLuca’s name and kept searching for pizza near the airport but nothing turned up. I didn’t realize they had closed! I don’t think anything has taken their place as the go to pizza place. I think people still like Art’s. This was at a place called Slice by Saddleback, the same company that does Saddleback BBQ. It was BOGO Monday so it was most definitely worth it but I probably wouldn’t splurge on it for full price. For me, Jet’s is the best bang for buck.
