Thanks for the link. I've been following your thread but never put two and two together that yours was translucent meerschaum. I was curious because I think I might have a translucent meer as well. The Altinok website I purchased the pipe from called this type of meerschaum something else—not translucent—but I've never been able to find out what it was. Translucent is just as good. Yes. It’s a rare grade of meerschaum. Altinay first marketed it as a special grade, but I have seen your pipe and from other members which are of the same grade.

That has to be really cool living near a carver. How far is George from where you live?

I hope you’ll show us pics of you hanging out there, also showing us some of the stages of building.

Can’t wait to see what you get, those blocks look really nice.

George’s workshop is a 20 minute walk from my apartment. I’ll try and grab some pics next time I go. Also, he said he would send some pics of the pipe as it progresses. I’ll try and include those on a later post!
