Rare multiple bowl day for me...started off with KBV B. Frog's Overdrive in my generic non-aro pipe, a Stefano Santambrogio smooth bent Rhodesian. A lackluster smoke, bereft of good flavor, and hard to keep lit. Probably my fault, as I should have dried it longer. Will have to come back to it at a later time. 5/10

Redeemed it later in the afternoon with a bowl of Mac Baren Black Ambrosia in my non-lat aromatic pipe, a Savinelli Miele 641 KS smooth bent apple. Also a good way to celebrate a 283-231 Scrabble victory vs. wifey. Got one or two more bowls in this jar, then it's on to my last tin. Just one of many casualties of the STG buyout, I suppose. 9/10

Bird report: Dark-eyed junco, California scrub-jay, California towhee, White-crowned sparrow, Oak titmouse, House finch, American crow, Steller's jay, Northern flicker, White-breasted nuthatch, Hairy woodpecker, California quail, Spotted towhee, and Bushtit.

Now sipping a scotch highball, waiting for my Kings to get clobbered by the Blackhawks for the second time in three days. Joy.

Rolled my own Star of The East Flake cigarette. No filter of course. Splendid smoke, not as a good as a pipe but a fine cigarette. Inhaled as a test, not a fan of the inhaled flavor but nowhere near as unpleasant than a manufacturered cigarette. No roughness either. Now smoking the same blend from a vintage Edward's canadian.

Enjoying a 2nd bowl of We Three Kings , this time in a much larger Santambrogio. Again burning easily and fast, finding it hard to smoke this slowly, like it's smoking me (!) instead of me being in control. LOL I'll probably get more flavor if I can slow it down. I might need to pack this tighter (?). Anyone got any We Three Kings tips?

I mean, I'm really enjoying it. I can't believe how much it reminds me of Macanudo America Blend. I still have one tin of Macanudo left (then gone forever). Maybe I'll crack that before I finish WTK. Or maybe I'm just smoking something ... (At least I crack myself up.)

Similar to the dark VA based Dark Moor, but the pressed reds and burley give it a little sharper profile I think.

I'm smoking Quiet Nights in my new Boswell Christmas '25 bent apple sitter. Rogue Santa's Private Reserve Stout on the side.



It came with what has to be one of the coolest, definitely biggest, pipe socks I've seen!

The Saturday afternoon pipe Zoom was an absolute joy. We pipers, who are all "of a certain age", talked this week mostly about tobaccos, both good and bad, that we smoked as younger men, comparing these old blends to more recent ones.
It was all quite hilarious.
As we jabbered, I smoked some McClelland 2004 Anniversary blend in my 2021 Morta pipe with a bamboo shank.
A very good smoke with very good friends.

Raking took a little longer than i reckoned, so i had to finish up by truck light. A quick pipe break and then i'm heading off to town to grab some dinner and a planner for next year. Something easy for the aperitif, Eddie G in a smooth Santambrogio panel.

Been relaxing after a wonderful three plates of spaghetti and meatballs topped with sharp cheddar cheese dinner with a big slice of pecan pie and a small bowl of vanilla bean ice cream for dessert. Then, I smoked a bowl of year 2015 Mac Baren Modern Virginia in a medium bend, smooth dark brown 1950s Peterson 999 Shamrock chubby Rhodesian with a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem.


Currently, I've a quarter of a bowl left of year 2014 Sam Gawith Best Brown Flake in a smooth medium bend dark brown 2021 Peterson Irish Harp 80S bulldog with a silver band and a tapered reddish brown, black striped acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Couldn't post before now because Daisy the Feral Princess took a long snooze on my lap.

Really, really beautiful Santambrogio -- don't remember seeing before. Both of mine are great smokers.
