Good day all! Missed the Peterson memo due to the first hurricane prep of 2024 here in Florida. With emergency supplies to hand, premises battened down and kayak tethered to the back door, sitting back watching the rain bands move in with a bowl of GH Brown Flake Aromatic in a dedicated wee tan Tilshead smooth Dublin with canted rim and flattened shank with matching tapered stem size 3. Nature's threats seem to call especially for stalwart British Flakes.

Nice afternoon smoke after some fun in the sun. Waiting for laundry to finish and then off to get a haircut and start packing my bags. Leaving for Florida in just a few days. Countdown has begun. :)

Exclusive in an HS Pipe Studio reverse calabash this time around. I was having a little trouble finding something i liked in this pipe, despite it's looks, but finally i'm on to something. It's doing well with Vapers. So be it!

A quarter of a bowl left of year 2014 Dunhill Flake in a straight smooth 1960 Dunhill DR 137 group 4 root briar canted dublin with a tapered black vulcanite stem. I wanted to see Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes pitch today, so I recorded the Pirates-D-Backs game, and am watching it now. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Lane 1-Q is a great aromatic tobacco.
Newminster 400 Navy Flake is also a great tobacco.

My Barontini 1/2 spigot bent billiard is a very good hand made pipe from Lovorno (Tuscany) Italy.

A Parfait of Newminster 400 on top of Lane 1-Q is a very enjoyable smoke.

But, if the Lane 1-Q is too moist and you pack the tobacco to tight. The draw is restricted, it burns very hot, the pipe becomes hot. The entire experience is terrible and no amount of using the pick to loosen the tobacco will help improve the experience.

It happens occasionally. It happened today in carelessness. The only solution is dumping the mess and starting over. Proper packing is as important as great tobacco, a great pipe and proper cadence. Today was a reminder of that fact. Live and learn and try not to forget in a rush. C'est la Vie.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of 2012 Virginia Spice in a medium bend 2000 thin stem sandblasted black silver spigot Ardor Urano Sherlock Holmes #68/100 D.R. briar calabash with a smooth flared top and a black acrylic stem.

Currently, I am a third of the way through this bowl of year 2016 Sutliff 507-C Slices in a black sandblast PSB medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY 4AB No. 228/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This will get me to dinner time.

Nice bully. Always admired MdP's craftsmanship. The one i have i almost had to fight to keep when i was going to the smoking lounge all the time. A certain buddy always swore he'd find my price, but it was one of my best pipes at that time and i still smoke it today. Enjoy that beauty! :)

Hope you stay safe down there today! ✌️

Well, got the hair cut, the lawn in order, the clothes in the dryer and about ready to warm up some carnivore cereal from last night's dinner (7 cuts of meat mixed in a bowl and topped with carnivore sauce: cream cheese, butter and bone broth). But first...i'll look forward to it over a bowl of Indaba in the SMS. ;)
