Sorry Brother, American pipe bands are not hallmarked. 1943 is a perfectly believable date though.

This one has Birmingham 1943 hallmarks. i doubt it was a 1943 import given the problem of Nazi submarines.:)

After the war sometime, LHS bought a bunch of silver bands. At the time they would have cost a few pennies each.

But in 1943 LHS was advertising Silver crests.

It takes a loupe to see it or I’d post a photo.

Just finished smoking Ken Byron Ventures Jim’s Special Flake 2023 in a 1984 black rusticated full bend Peterson Mark Twain military mount egg with a silver cap and tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Taking a cleaning pipes break.

Now smoking first production Seattle Pipe Club Virginia Jazz in a smooth medium brown medium bend 1950s B.B.B. Own Make 307 apple with a sterling silver band and black vulcanite saddle stem. Since the house is quite, I'm going to read for a while.

On the menu for my evening smoke was a bowl of C&D Yorktown loaded in my Altinay Freehand.

Followed by a tall serving of Sutliff 507c Virginia Slices in my Bent Hunter Falcon with a chimney meer and paired with a carbonated water.

I assume from the labels that these blends are ordered from Smoking Pipes. Are they delivered in the bags in the Photos? Iam asking because I would like to order and have them delivered to my brother in VA and pick them up in September when we are in the US. There are several blends that I would like to try and would order when SP has a bulk blend sale. Thanks.

Just finished saying goodbye to lunch guests and the washing up
Sitting down to a quiet bowl of Sutliff Mixture 79

In a Comoy Straight Grain.
Two minute sand pits visible.
No other obvious fills.
Straight grain on 3 sides, flame grain on the other.
They must have very strict grading criteria back then

Take a look at the well cut stem with the thin bit

In the first photo, yes! I reuse most of the labels from SmokingPipes so I don't have to make them. SmokingPipes sends their bulk blends in ziplock bags though. I transfer them into the mylar bags you see in the picture. If you ever have any questions about the mylar bags please feel free to message me and I'd be happy to share my experiences and where I get them. Same goes for any labels that I've made.

For my final smoke of the evening I decided on a bowl of CS Baker Street loaded in my trusty Pete while watching Sherlock Holmes.

Mario Pascucci - P Rust - 2127 (without filter).
"Obacconis №52" (exactly without T) Ingredients: Virginia and Louisiana Perique, Black Cavendish;
Cut: Rolls;
Strength: 4 out of 5;
Aroma: without aromatization.
Manufacturer: Kopp Tobaccos GmbH (Germany). As many note, this is essentially Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bull's Eye Flake rolled up in cans under a different brand. I liked it.IMG_3497.jpeg
