Today's Crossover - George Gershwin, Suite from Porgy and Bess "Catfish Row."
Believe it, many symphony musicians are expert jazzers. especially in the brass section. Here's a great performance by the Cincinnati Pops orchestra, with some fantastic period photographs of Gershwin and New York. I've played American in Paris and Piano Concerto in F by Gershwin but not "Catfish Row" which is my favorite of the collaboration between Gershwin and Ferde Grofe. Light your pipe up with something you'd smoke with Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra, and enjoy 27 minutes of the best crossover stuff you'll ever hear. At least, I think so!

I'm not familiar with this band. I'll have to check them out.
It is one of the "perfect albums" not only is every song phenomenal, but the production is flawless.
The sound of this album is superb!

Been suffering a nasty cold. Did Matthew Sweet earlier. Another great album from start to finish. The Beatles! I remember my 7th grade teacher trying to teach us how to play guitar to this album. God bless him. He passed away sometime ago to a lung cancer. He would smoke in class before the bell ring first time in that day.
When taking this picture, the following words crossed my mind. "In my rear view mirror the sun is going down... "
