Ok, I am risking getting some ridicule for posting this, but I'm still doing it anyway. A couple of months ago I decided to listen to some current pop music just out of curiosity, and one of the used CDs I got was Billie Eilish's latest album. I was rather impressed with her music and composing ability. So I wanted to try her earliest album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Clearly about dreams and nightmares showing her maybe searching for her musical identity, or even exorcising some personal demons. Some of her songs are really dark, but the level of maturity of song writing is pretty amazing for a 17 year old. The bass on the album is overpowering to say the least, but with judicial use of the tone controls it can be a very interesting listening experience.
This song, Bury A Friend has pretty disturbing lyrics, and the video is right out of a psychological horror movie. Seeing videos of her in person in interviews and SNL skits she seems to be a totally different person. For me she's a very talented and interesting composer, and I can't wait to see what she does in the future. (Sorry about the long post)
