Hello,
I just received my new Chacom pipe. I took a flashlight inside the bowl and I see some marks inside the bowl. They look like groups of small holes. I am guessing they are caused by some tool during manufacturing? Are these normal or something to worry about? I have never really taken a close look to my other bowls before they were caked. These are the best pictures I could manage with my phone.

Looks like the rare Briar Bowl Woodpecker attacked it to me. As an alternative, as BROBS said, may be tooling marks. Either way, nothing to be concerned about. Smoke a couple of bowls and you won't see them.
