A lot depends on whether you like figurals or not.

You'll find more carvers' names than brands. For new meerschaums, Servi, SMS, Bestmeerschaums and whoever is selling Fikri Baki's pipes are solid. There are lots of good carvers (besides Baki). Bekler is gone; he carved for Royal, Golden Horn and CAO. CAO is no longer in the pipe business, but they're generally good pipes, though there were definitely some ugly carvings from CAO. If one wants NOS Beklers, Rich's Cigars in Portland and Iwan Ries in Chicago bought all CAO's backstock. I think Sadik Yanik is the best figural carver alive; I have two of his and I love them.
