Both Barling Quaints outperformed the Perspex.
And,

I'm still quite stunned at what the very early Shells can sell for,

even in clapped-out condition,

they command good money...

Especially when sniped by a pair of imbeciles. These nut jobs jacked the price from $96 to over $330 in the last few seconds of the auction. I hope the "winner" enjoys the burned out and cracked kindling that he bought.
There is no end of stupid.

That seller had quite a weekend for himself!
Al, yes indeed. I think he will paying a lot more attention to pipes at future Estate Sales that he goes to! There were some great pipes, Barling's, Dunhill, and this one, which also sold very well.

Not my shape, but an excellent example this pre-war Comoy's Royal 235,

I kinda wanted to buy these because I've always wanted to confirm my manhood by smoking them...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-Vintage-Capstan-Navy-Cut-Cigarette-Packet-New-Sealed-10s-Full-Strength-/221998111354?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=2Yvdh5nwLAjtR78nsY7fquvFqBs%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

...but I passed as they were kind of pricey and would have depleted my angora sweater budget.

(Ed Wood joke)
:
I also wanted this,

because it is a style I've been looking for, and this example is unusual because it's brass,

but again,

I let it pass...

:
Another damnable thing I wanted,

was this old Thorens Teleflam lighter,

but they also go for a rather high sum,

pretty cool 'lil thingies though!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thorens-Push-Button-Petrol-Pocket-Lighter-called-the-Teleflam-No-Reserve-/231817071620?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=2Yvdh5nwLAjtR78nsY7fquvFqBs%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
:
Black Cat clock?

Yeah,

it would have somehow enhanced the enjoyment of my life,

but,

why bother?

:)

:
Old Germain's ciggy packet with a cute panda on it?

Yeah,

I wanted that too,

but not $20 worth of bad wanting!

:D

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CIGARETTE-PACKET-GIANT-PANDA-JERSEY-C-I-/201507214602?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=2Yvdh5nwLAjtR78nsY7fquvFqBs%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
:
Hopefully,

I'll get what I really want!
It's a cool pipe,

but I doubt I'll win.
Please recite prayers to the Pipe Godz for me!

:P

That's quite an eclectic group of items MLC!
I am digging the lighter.

I grabbed this pipe tie tac. I have one on each of my hats, I can't resist for a few bucks. I pluck out the "ruby" plastic stone.

Yep, that 235 is almost Extraordinaire money.
I thought the 235 was always an Extraordinaire.
...but I passed as they were kind of pricey
The way things are going in the UK, 25 quid for 20 cigarettes is shaping up to be a bargain.

That is a cool lighter, but at 217GBP...
This is the oddity that tempted me:
