i always wanted to visit moscow. specifically the red square. not because there's anything to see, but because i was told i would never see it in my life time when i was young. i might drain my lizard in smack middle of red square too.
Visited there in 2003. Stayed in a hotel that was right across from Red Square, St Basil’s. Was fantastic. Lenin’s tomb is right there so you can take a look at him if you want to. Did have what seemed to be a friendly woman call my room at 2am and offer her companionship. I had a good feeling 3 guys would be coming with her carrying a suitcase and hacksaw. Traveled on to Sochi and enjoyed the palm trees and Black Sea. Was a nice visit.

Last time I went to Vega$ I woke up married and with the flu.

Never going back to Vega$!

I went to Moscow as part of a NATO military training team to brief members of the Russian General Staff on "partnership for peace" initiatives/operations. It was surreal. At one point during the brief -in the freakin Kremlin- I noticed a painting on the far wall. It was a scene of Soviet tanks rolling through Kandahar. This was long before Enduring Freedom and oddly prescient.

We all went to Red Square in our various dress uniforms (US Navy and Army, German AF, Greek Army, Turkish Army, German Army) and got some really amazing photos by St Basil's.

We had a lot of fun screwing around telling stories in our hotel rooms knowing full well they were all bugged and under surveillance. Oh boy we went nuts making stuff up as we had cocktails. By the time we were done, the Russians probably started planning contingencies for our jet packs and laser guns. Good times.

I hate the after smell of cig/cigar/pipe smoke in hotel rooms and anyplace indoors. Even after smoking has been banned for years, I still go in older hotel rooms and can smell the stench -- In hotel hallways, rooms and in the casinos here in CO. Then they try to mask it with Frabreeze or some other brand and that makes it worse.

I seek out hotels with clean no-smoking rooms and go to the newer built hotels. That stink just doesn't go away.

I remember in years past- before painting inside rooms on houses we had to wash and scrub the nicotine off the walls...and you could actually see the yellow runs of stain. Freaking gross. I'm fine finding a quiet spot to have my smoke. And my truck is always a nice place to have a puff. I just have to be careful - as on a few occasions the cops appeared and thought I was smoking weed.

Mind ya,' this opinion is coming from a latakia lover.

Pretty soon the cops will be making sure you ARE smoking weed and not tobacco.

Nobody seemed to be paying the rules much heed though and everyone was just smoking outside the entrance as usual.
I think it's bollocks that they can't make an exception for hospitals. Fair enough if you are just visiting for a medical appointment/procedure and you'll be out in a few hours or whatever but what if you are stuck in there for months?
I assume mainly the employees. Hospital employees love smoking seriously my local hospital banned smoking totally and now they have a lot of trouble getting doctors to work there.
That said there are people in the hospital in shockingly horrible shape (I know imagine that) who can get messed up the slightest things. If I was going to ban smoking anywhere that would be the place.

I would think if people wished to be reasonable, they would build some reasonably comfortable smoking areas. If this were a Gay thing or an LGBT thing, we wouldn't be talking about it. It would be already taken care of. They're assaulting many Jewish folks in New York and not much seems to be done other than gum flapping. But let a guy burn an LGBT flag and they get 15 years in Prison. Help me make sense of that.

I once found myself in Dothan, Alabama on business. I was staying at one of the local Holiday Inns (older style) where you accessed the rooms from the outside. They had a lounge downstairs that served alcohol and had some dart boards and such. Anyway, I head down there to have a few beers and a cigar before bed. I took a seat at the bar and ordered a beer, took out my cigar and began to clip it when the bartender walks up and tells that no pipes and/or cigars are allowed, only cigarettes. Apparently the smell of cigar smoke was offensive to the local clientele. I swear this is a true story. It blew my mind.

In the past, I've been at one of the indigenously-owned/operated casinos/resorts in CT (Mohegan Sun), and pipe enjoyment was NOT restricted there in ANY serious way (even IN the indoor restaurants!!) - way back in the 2000s!

To their credit, the Mohegan tribe that operates it had a smoke-free gambling floor at that time as well, and virtually ALL the rooms for lodging there HAVE been intended to be tobacco-friendly...

...has anyone been to either Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods (the other REALLY sizable indigenously-owned/operated resort in CT) more recently, and seen any "serious" changes to such pipe-friendly policies at either one of them?
