I've got a pipe or two or three like that. It always hurts. I've managed to epoxy one that was worse. I've attempted to cut the shank on another...that one hurts a lot because I enjoyed how that pipe smoked. It's a Lorenzo 1/2 bent. I still have 2 or 3 with cracks in the shank.

That truly sucks. A band might be in order to keep that part stuck on. I had that happen to an early BBB handmade and it upset me so much that 6 years later, it's still in a Ziploc waiting for me to send it to the repair man.

Ive fixed several pipes with regular non-toxic Elmers Carpenter glue.
I know Missouri Meerschaum uses Elmers to glue in their stems.
And there is a lot of direct heat where the shank and bowl meet on a cob.
Also, years ago Marty Pulvers had a post about using Elmers or Titebond glue to repair pipes.
But, I like the band idea myself.
If so inclined, Pimo Pipeworks sells the bands and such......as well as other retailers.

If using wood glue Id use waterproof versions. It may not get hot but it gets damp. Most standard wood glues are water soluble.

Epoxy. It will tolerate the heat and moisture and still has enough flex to tolerate movement in the briar without failing.
