You can definitely stay up to midnight, but you'll have a long wait, since it usually goes on sale around noon Eastern.

Rougaroux is a complex and labor intensive blend to produce and is prepped and mixed primarily by hand, so Ernie does two batches a year.

Rougaroux is Watch City Cigar's best selling blend. It's an actual small batch, and it's taken Ernie several tries to zero in on how much to make to reasonably meet demand, but he seemed to hit it last time at about 500 lbs. For once, it didn't sell out in 10 minutes.

I find Rougaroux an excellent Va/Per. It's certainly well worth the 5 minutes it takes me to buy a pound, which is the maximum amount you can order.

Ernie wants as many people as possible to have the opportunity to enjoy Rougaroux, so the 1 lb top limit keeps the pigs and crazies from swallowing up the release.

I think a lot of people underestimate just how small the pipe tobacco industry is... Once a blend gets a certain reputation online, it usually sells out.

Luckily, those who are "chasing the best" tend to stay chasing, so blends come in and out of favor; if you're tasting (and thinking) for yourself, a little patience goes a long way and stock up on your favorites when you find 'em!

EDIT: to add, just like PS Birdseye Flake, for over a decade now I'd pick a couple Oz up every year to smoke; after gaining some hype, the last 2/3 years, it's been a mission to find it in stock anywhere.

I guess I didn't know PS Birdseye Flake was a "thing". I've got 8-9 24 oz. boxes stashed away. Maybe I should leverage that and parlay my stash into a small fortune on the sales thread... Or not.

I usually throw stuff up there for my own amusement. I don't care whether it sells or not. Not like I'm going to starve or miss making the utilities payment if it doesn't sell.

I need to occasionally remind myself that I don't need to purchase any more tobacco... For instance, when I logged on, I immediately started putting together a list of C&D bulks. [Record Scratch].

Haha! I do the EXACT SAME THING with the same blender! The C&D Sales are especially hard on me.. puffy

Rougaroux is good, maybe one of the better ones that I have sampled from WCC, but I wouldn't go through any maximum effort to get more. It has a casing that I have to dry out of it as much as I can before I really enjoy it. But, my tastes lean more towards pure tobacco and repulsed by most casing or topping tastes.
Agree. But I really love Watch City Slices. That's some really good sh*t... puffy

It is good... I haven't smoked any for several months. I've got 40-50 blends in my "working" inventory to get through before opening yet another blend. But a spot will open up shortly...

I keep most of my working inventory in 2 oz. portions in small Fido bail jars. Then when they empty, I refill. A lot of my cellar is stored away in Mylar in 2 oz. portions.

I for one enjoy Rouxgaroux and find it a deeply satisfying smoke. The base of Simply Red keeps things sweet but in a good way. Sort of a stone fruit, stoved type sweetness. What I really find pleasing is how the perique used in the blend balances the peppery characteristics with the nice dry, slightly tart and fruity aspects of aged perique. Intermingling with the sweet, tart Virginias is the red wine topping that adds a very slight "wang" that I would never have noticed if I had not read about it. I believe this is one that I would always like to have on hand.

I don't know if adding a "wang" is really a good thing or not? I find myself all wanged up around here. ;) But it is a good blend, as is Rhythm and Blues, of which I just received a new stock. Ernie does some good stuff, IMO.
