And more have wrecked stems with sandpaper. And only like 100 dudes have ruined pipes this way ?

Using a buffer inside the draft hole is just as silly!Didn't read the post I was quoting did you?
There can be a bad taste if the internal oxidation is real bad.In any event, why bother?
Yeah I just got a pipe with pretty bad internal oxidation. The outside is pretty bad too but you can't tell until you shine a bright light on it. Kinda bummed about it, but what can you do? One of these days ill get on itThere can be a bad taste if the internal oxidation is real bad.
I use automotive valve grinding compound to begin with and then Flitz (TM) polish. I tie one end of a long bristle pipe cleaner to a mesh screen on my balcony, charge the pipe cleaner, and work the stem back and forth while rotating it. Another forum member has had good luck using a drill to rotate the pipe cleaner (I tried that and all that happened was that the pipe cleaner twisted upon itself)What abrasive do you recommend? I've been using toothpaste but I figure there's got to be something better.
