To my Aussie friends, and to anyone else who may have recommendations:
What is the most traditional and/or common way to eat vegemite?

I just ordered some, but I've never had vegemite before, nor do I know anyone who's had vegemite. My most cultured friends are on this forum, lol.

My vegemite just got delivered.
Wow that stuff is gnarly. I tried a little straight out of the jar just to see what it was like then some on buttered toast. A little goes a long way.

There was a study about why most kids are repelled by vegetables. The study found that small children have a much higher sense of taste, and that they sense the flavors in plants that cue us humans in on poisons much more acutely. In other words, they taste the bad more.
Vegemite was made to remind us adults why kids don't like vegetables.

Be warned that Vegemite has a shit-load of salt, so only apply a scrapping
I like it with buttered hot toast ie butter melted into the toast

Being born in the colonies, I actually prefer Marmite.
But my favourite is Bovril, which is a beef extract. Or the Aussie version, Bonox

A favourite childhood meal was Marmite/Bovril rice with freshly rendered lard.
Place a raw egg in a bowl with half a teaspoon of Marmite/Vegemite (or Bovril/Bonox).
Add a good tablespoon of freshly rendered lard and lots of white pepper.
Top with rice (has to be piping hot so it “cooks“ the egg).
Mix thoroughly.
Top with the bits of crisp browned fat.
Enjoy.
