"people"@AJL67 and everyone, above--thanks for the great help.
Type of repair is a loose fitting stem. I got a birth year Dunhill from ebay that had something stuck on the tenon (clear fingernail polish maybe?). I didn't think before I acted, I simply scraped it off (should have asked myself why someone would put it there! LOL). Now the stem turn freely and falls out!
BTW--what's "ppl?"
Hope everyone here has great smoking and lots of smiles.
kindly

Thnkx @AJL67! What is your "avatar" (is that the right word?)--a preying mantis cartoon?"people"
I doubt you want a new stem cut, you know keeping the original, and me personally i would just go with clear nail polish again, i think putting it inside and not on the tendon though, if it's that loose i don't see graphite or bees wax or whatever working. Just my thoughts and what i would try first.
@RustiePyles CPG your thoughts?

Apparently he was only the voice for the pilot.
Sadly yes, there were 3 different voices, but Billy is the man!Apparently he was only the voice for the pilot.
Agreed!Sadly yes, there were 3 different voices, but Billy is the man!
When i lived in Boston he was doing characters on the local FM morning show "The Big Mattress" and was quite popular locally doing all different characters, that was before he hit it big in voice work in cartoons.Agreed!
It falls out when I stick it in the mortise and turn the pipe, bowl up. I'll try the distilled water, thanks--never thought of that.How loose is the stem? Have you smoked since you got it? Sometimes a loose stem can be rectified just by smoking the pipe. Try dipping a Q tip in some distilled water and wiping it in the mortise and then smoking the pipe. It’s just might tighten up.
If it's a Dunhill, then send a PM to georged he's a member here and he did an excellent job on my 1926 Dunhill@AJL67 and everyone, above--thanks for the great help.
