It was relatively inexpensive, by my standards…

If I had that pipe, I would have a new stem made out of Cumberland, to extend the OAL to about 6-6.5”.

Those short nose warmer stems look comical to me.

That's a good price. I've been looking for a '309'-shaped Penzo for a while, but must have been asleep at the wheel while this one was up. I asked him to make me a pipe similar to the 309-ish one he made for Mark I, but he said he doesn't take requests.

I would imagine that between Peterson and his own creations, his plate is pretty full. Taking on commissions opens a whole nother can of worms.

Actually I did wait about half an hour before committing… kinda surprised it didn’t get snapped up by somebody else.

He chose Peterson and making pipes for retailers who sell his pipes, over taking commissions. Valid business decision. He's the only artisan pipe-maker I can think of who doesn't take commissions.
