I've never ordered from Uhle's, but being new here, I see them mentioned alot. I do try to support the B&M tobacconists that are still around.Uhle's 00
But don’t the straight burley blends always have some casing like anise or cocoa or whatever? I mean I think it’s minimal but he wants it plain. Plus Uhle’s is freakin expensive. Peretti ain’t cheap neither. They are quality though.Go to ljperetti.com or uhles and pick out whatever burley blends sound good to you.
Yes also a good pick.Vincent Manil Tabac de la Semois
No casings or flavorings added. One of my favorite Burley tobaccos.

I bought a tin of Pegasus and I like that blend, not as much as Haunted Bookshop though. I appreciate the suggestions! Being a relatively new pipe smoker, I often suffer from paralysis by analysis due to the overwhelming number of blends out there.I think they are worth checking out regardless. I was going to suggest whole leaf but you beat me to it so i offered the next best thing.
Also @rsshreck32 C&D Pegasus might be worth a look.
I was going to say something like this. Semois is pretty unique due to terroir and it may not be what OP is seeking. I think it’s pretty different than chopped whole leaf.Semois is really good but to call it a burly to my mind is not accurate. Calling it burly is like calling certain strains of tobacco grown in places that aren't Cuba "Cuban". There is a good similarity maybe but Semois is Semois. Still try it the stuff is amazing. Only pipe thing that can make me sickly if I am not careful.
My only hint is to contact the companies that make pipe tobacco and ask them what if anything in their line is made with uncased untopped burly.
The environment in which tobacco is grown makes them all unique. The same strains grown in different climates can make for drastically different tobacco.Semois is pretty unique due to terroir
