I know there's some interest in these pipes that were made in Wisconsin from the 50s to the early 70s. These two were my fathers. He bought them sometime probably in the late 60s.

As you can see from one of the photos there's apparently what Miles Baer called a smoke cooling chamber. The bowl was carved as a funnel with a small hole at the bottom at a chamber that led to the stem.

Going to clean them up this weekend and try giving one a smoke to see how the system works.

Apparently according to an old thread they were made from Algerian briar.

Anyways, just thought I'd post some pics for those interested. When I get them cleaned up I'll add to the thread.

Cheers!

Hey...my grandpa's pipes still up for sale ?

Thanks...Ken Baer
Your grandfather made them,? That's fantastic! Being in Wisconsin my whole life, I'd love to hear more history on him and his pipes! If you know much or have links you should let us in!

As to the original poster, he hasn't been on the site since May of last year.

I have posted the background of my grandfather and his pipes on this site...look for Baer bowl...I watched him make these pipes as a young boy in the early 50's...and have a few...some never smoked but certainly aged...

Our place was in Neenah...He was born in 1896...had a shop in the basement of the farmhouse...sold all over the world...
