I bought this Kaywoodie rack and tobacco box for my Dad 51 years ago, Fathers Day 1973.When he passed I got it back. just finished sanding and refinishing it. I will use it as a display for his favorite Peterson Army Heritage. If I could only find a can of Middleton Cherry Blend it would be completely as I always remember it.

The tin itself can be had for a pittance (less than $10 delivered):

That's amazing that he's had it all this time. Did you always want to be a pipe smoker as well? And do you have any of his other pipes or pipe-relates paraphernalia?

I only got into pipe smoking in the last couple of years as a means to get off cigarettes, the doctor told me if i was going to smoke it would be better if I smoked a pipe and practiced enjoying the tobacco flavor rather than drawing and inhaling nicotine receive it through an oral delivery system (His words not mine)
I do have a couple of corn cob pipe of my fathers as well as a Kaywoodie and a meerschaum Sherlock Holmes style but the one he always went to was the Peterson. I just ordered a new one as close to his as I could from Smokingpipes.com.

Does you so much credit to honor your father. I'd not just use it as a display rack, but as the main rack for my rotation.
My father retired a Gunnery Sargent from the Marine Corps the last six years of his career he was a Drill Instructor at MCRD Parris Island. We never were allowed to touch his pipes , I guess I'm a little afraid he will come back and get me if I do now.
