Hello everyone! Today I want to share with you my Tokutomi Pipe from Japan which I like to call my Apple pipe ? this pipe is absolutely gorgeous and amazing! It balances perfectly on its own, it's perfectly light for my clenching, it's smokes so smoothly, it comes in a beautiful soft leather pouch and I love leather too... And the wooden bowl that my apples are in was made by someone very special to me too ? By the way, don't mind my messy look, I just got back from the gym and now it's time to relax.. and I made a smoke ring too?? ?IMG_20210916_210907.jpgIMG_20210916_210847.jpgIMG_20210916_210857.jpgIMG_20210916_210551.jpgIMG_20210916_210508.jpgIMG_20210916_210358.jpgIMG_20210916_210433.jpgIMG_20210916_215106.jpgIMG_20210916_215132.jpgIMG_20210916_210419.jpg

I like that the stem end of the stummel shank is like an eye, what is the white inset made of? I see it has another ring of briar between the white and the stem, that is clever work, however it is done...nice pipe!!!
Thank you! Yes the ring is artificial ivory and it's a ring to reinforce the military mount. I can't tell you much I loved smoking this pipe! It was so smooth and smokey...

I don't see the mess. Everything's relative. Japanese pipes are great, even the tasting pipes that are run off for house pipes or events, have a nifty fit and finish. I don't quite "get" the highly lacquered pipes with painted flowers on the bowls, but but I might learn to appreciate them. That's an elegant artisan treatment with the distinctive flaring shank.

I never really liked the Danish freehand and artisan pipes all that much. The Asian ones I like much more. The sense of asymmetrical balance and the way they work with the grain. Or in other words nice pipe. Oh and you look a little high in those photos, could just be me. I'll blame the pipe for being extra relaxing.
