Tobacco with a Hint of Volcano

If your looking for a tobacco grown from a unique mineral soil. This year's crop from North Sumatra may fit the bill. Nature has provided an extra dose of mineral fertilizer from nearby Mt. Sinabung.

Interesting... I would have leaned to side of it would be good for the soil, too, but maybe not so much...

If they get good rain I would guess that some of the crop could be saved. The tobacco plants looked better off than the pics of tomato plants I saw. The ash cloud looked directional, so it probably didn't destroy all of the crops on the island. I doubt they have to worry about nutrient deficiency for the following years. Indonesia is one of the very few countries that did not sign the FCTC. If there is a source to buy their tobacco I would support them.

The article seemed to indicate that if under 4" a lot of plants will survive. A good rainfall would help a lot.
