Tobacco Similiar to Germain's 1820 Flake?

People say this blend is close to Penzance which it also hard to find. I tried some Germains and loved it but its always sold out. It doesnt have to be exact but the depth and sweetness is really nice. Im in the EU.

I've smoked a couple of tins of 1820 and thought it pleasant - now and again, I'm dipping into Special Latakia Flake and likewise, pleasant although 1820 is more lat than SLF. To be honest, SG Skiff does the job as well as either, with a bit more zing.

I can get that. Its relatively expensve but it wouldnt be a daily smoke.

Im in the EU. Are any of the Dan lats worth trying? Old Ironside, London blend 1000 or Bill bailey balkan? Or are they just lat blends of a different sort? I like the sweetness and depth of the germanis. A lotta lat is good.

I love Old Ironsides and Bill Bailies but they are nothing like1820/Penzance, nothing is.

IMO from all EU blends, HU Fayyum Kake is the closest you can get. If you want, I can ship you a sample.

Thanks @Duke of Erinmore I actually have some. At this very moment I have a pipe full of half HH latakia flake and half Fayyum. I think next time I will go a bit lighter on the HH. I like the sweetness but Id like more of the Fayyum to come through. I dont know that it compares side by side but its got some nice depth as well as sweetness going on. The current blend tastes a little too purple. Yes, latakia tastes purple. So does Marlin flake

I dont HAVE to have Germains but I want something in the ball park. Ive had pretty good luck mixing blends to get what I want. I mostly smoke HU blends. My favorite being half Directors Cut, half Edward G and a nice pinch per pipeful of torben dansk blendig perique. For me that is just exquisite. Im trying to do the same with lat blends.

Its a great English blend and I like it for different reasons then Penz but they don't taste similar. Honestly Penz/1820 is way, way over hyped. Its a good smoke but personally I like Margate more if we're talking Esoterica Latakia blends and there's other English blends I like even more still. This is also very subjective, people love and only smoke Penz if they can afford it/have a supply.

If you really want to try some nice English blends that are available I'd suggest trying some from Watch City Cigar. specifically, Ahabs Comfort but I can recommend the rest as well.

I think the tins are different from the bags in relation to 1820. I could be wrong though
