I made something that might interest you!
Weeks ago, I tried the Maxpedition 'Fatty' organizer for bring my pipes and tools for traveling, and though that even if it's practical, I don't feel it's protecting the pipes that much. I'm a crafty guy so I decided to build something sturdy, in wood, that would secure the pipes properly, and that could hold all the items and tools that I use the most often. Surprisingly, it's not a lot bigger than the Maxpedition Fatty. My box, closed, is 5 ½" x 10 ¼ ", with a height of 4 ¼".
So, here it is, the Tobacco Pipe Travel Box:
