I'm not sure if the "entire market would fail," but I do agree that if aromatics were banned there would be a lot of us codgers calling their congressmen.
It isn't a matter of subjective opinion. Aromatics account for 80%+ of pipe tobacco sales. Most of the pipe tobacco companies would file for bankruptcy if people stopped buying aromatics.

Seems there's a strong presumption that if aromatics were not available, aromatic smokers would quit entirely instead of trying other types of blends...
I'm not one of them, so I can't answer directly, but I can't imagine all of them just quitting.

If McDonald’s stopped selling Big Macs, some people who love Big Macs might find something else to eat at McDonalds, but rest assured that their sales would be negatively affected.

I’d wager most tobacco companies in 2025 can ill afford that same sort of hit to sales.
