I was looking over my collection of eleven pipes and noticed seven of them are 'Sitters'. Can anyone out there in the Great Land of Pipers Cyberspace explain the reason for 'Sitters'?

i read it somewhere that the reason they made them was for workers. so the could sit there pipes down while they work.i think that is why or something along that line.

I would agree with mlaug... I have a couple and like to smoke them when at my desk working.... get a phone call or involved in a something and I can just sit them down on my desk and deal with the task at hand... I am not a good clincher.....

As I understand it pokers were made so you could set the pipe on the table while attending to trying to draw to an inside straight.

I have a French cherrywood sitter. I tend to use it while working at a table or desk. Mostly though, I just enjoy the wonderful variety of pipe designs made available to us by the pipe carver's creativity.
