We have more and more probes from Lurks with one posting seeking evaluation. Many members seeking to flex the knowledge and marketing mussels respond. Let’s get it over an start an appraisal thread so every garage sale hawker, junk shop owner and antique dealer can pick our brain. Let’s charge a fee to fund a larger box pass ? Do we need new members that bad to encourage this if so why not change our forum name to flea bay # 2. Am I alone on this view or should I ask my Doc to increase the blood pressure meds !

I tend to agree but what do innocent bi-valves have to do with it? :)

Why not make that suggestion to the man who owns this site? You should PM Kevin with your ideas and complaints. This site is, thankfully, not a democracy. It's privately owned and again, thankfully, well run with great mods.

What are marketing mussels?? Are they related to marketing muscles??

I too have grown weary of newbies starting threads with "What is the best tobacco of all time". I do get very tired of this lame question, Seems like the universe has given up on the English tongue.
Has anyone ever started a thread, "What is the worst tobacco of all time?"

I haven't decided on this issue. This is a highly knowledgeable tobacco pipe group, and a challenge now and then, when all of the "real" regular members get to share the answer or add to the discussion, seems like it could be stimulating and add interest.

I can also see members who spend time and effort contributing here feeling somewhat used.

I also notice that we get many new members, so-called lurkers, who post a thread or two and disappear forever. There's no way to refuse them. They're sampling the site and decided not to continue.

So I tend to take it as the price of dealing with the public. The moderators are adept at filtering the questionable threads, and the rules filter out some of the misguided threads.

I guess I'd rather have a few opportunists stumble in the door now and then looking for free expertise than have the place made so private we are all just talking to ourselves. A few bad posts are the fortunes of war, if you will.

You’ve been here two years, you’re practically a Lurk.
Why should I trust your thread?

We are lucky to have members here that CAN answer some very detailed questions about pipes from various areas, styles, and dates. I’m very grateful tot them.

I do notice that some will recommend lower prices to someone if they want the pipe. But my goto rec for someone selling a pipe is to let the experts sell it for you, like pipestud or trade it to smokingpipes.

I’m entirely unsure of what your getting at here. Was alcohol involved in the creation of this post?
