My pipe has oval bore of bowl, seems like I read somewhere that they do not smoke well but found this pipe is great. Requires frequent tamping but when done far in front it keeps a nice open airway.Bore of the bowl or of the airway? Some opera pipes have oval bowls supposedly so they lay flatter in the pocket of your tux. Many trim pipes are flat enough not to require an elongated chamber. I've not encountered an oval bore airway.
No one can argue against your firsthand experience. If it smokes well for you, keep on keeping on. ?My pipe has oval bore of bowl, seems like I read somewhere that they do not smoke well but found this pipe is great. Requires frequent tamping but when done far in front it keeps a nice open airway.
Got any photos? I've never seen an oval airway.Sorry, I went with the more traditional use of the word "bore" as meaning the airway, not the chamber.
Which is why I wrote it would be hard to do right as I have never seen one.Got any photos? I've never seen an oval airway.
