I love the Morta look, how do they smoke compared to a high quality briar? Thanks in advance.

Thanks all. I hear great things about Morta, so I had to give it a try.
I almost snagged this one, but someone moved fast on it; All the specs where also matching up to what I usually like. I tend to move on straight Billiard or Bulldogs

Had I not seen the Radice 574 I was targeting a Radice Silk Cut Pure Bulldog that also is pretty sweet///might just have to make it a two pipe Father's Day gifting, hehe

Take it slow the first couple bowls is what I have always been told when getting a Morta pipe. They are excellent smokers!
Love that Radice.
Vermont Freehand also makes a Morta as part of their line up. SPC has them for sale from to time. While not as nice as the Radice, they are quite good smokers.

Treat it more like a meer than a briar. You don't want to build up a cake. I only have one morta but the first bowl or two was rough - like licking the bottom of a peat bog (and not in that good Laphroaig scotch way). After that, it mellowed out nicely but there is something a little smokey always sitting at the edge of a smoke. I use mine for Virginias but most people seem to like latakia blends in them, probably due to that smokey edge.

My Becker Sr Morta says hi. You got me excited. Now I am drying some Stonehaven flakes to smoke in it tonight. This pipe is dedicated to stonehaven. One of my favorite pipes! The flavors from this wood are nothing short of amazing.

Also had my eye on this Radice Morta, but the weight was a little higher than I would like.

I just bought a Morta from Mr Brog. For the size, I was surprised how warm it got while smoking. I know, slow down.

Ok, I think we have to change the title of this thread to "Show off You Morta Pipes" :) Great pipes, I have never owned one but after seeing those pictures I am thinking about purchasing one.

I wish I had a picture of the Becker that was at the KC Show several years ago. It was a half bent apple that was pure gorgeousness. Paolo made the best looking mortas I've ever seen. Beautiful cross hatching. Mortas can be a little heavy.
