Always loved L&H (but I thought for sure this thread was going to about Jim Inks).

That is hilarious! Who on Earth thought of a routine like that?? Me being of the younger generation, this skit is new to me!
I just enjoyed a pipe with my brother and his son was calling it "smoking a candle". Don't know where he got it from, but seems innocent enough. Guess pipe smoking has taking many different views over the years.

The question is, who thought of it first...Laurel and Hardy or the Stooges?

I loved Laurel and Hardy when I was a kid. My dad would watch the old shows on the weekend sometimes. I think that's what got me hooked.

Didn't he have a small pipe hidden in his hand or something? I seem to remember his also playing music on a long wood saw and driving Ollie nuts as well.

He did indeed, however he was good enough to hide it really well.
