I followed the traditional path of aros, then Englishes and then VaPers.
Same here. I started with Aros and then English/Balkan blends. Back then I was more of a pipe collector than a pipe smoker. I could take the art or leave it; and that ignorance was bliss.

In my curiosity, I tried Burley in various forms and that was a huge mistake for me, one that almost ended my pipe smoking fascination.

But, then, I wandered into Virginia’s and VaPers and nothing’s been the same since. The complexity, taste and nuance of even the most monotone Virginia intrigues and delights me; so much so that I now have to limit when and how much I smoke. I never quite understood the spirit of these words spoken by General Lee, “I like whiskey. I always did, and that is why I never drink it.”...but I can assure you that I do now.
