It was suggested I start a “coloring progress” thread for this meerschaum Falcon bowl I shared recently, so here goes…
I received this bowl on Oct 3, 2022. I had my eye on it for a while. It wasn’t listed as translucent or a different price than the other meerschaum Falcon bowls the merchant had listed. I could tell from the photos it had a spotted appearance to it, but I wasn’t too sure. I finally took a chance and purchased it, and sure enough, it has these translucent spots all over, inside and out. Not sure if I scored a rare gem or it’s just something out of the ordinary. Haven’t seen another like it, especially as a Falcon bowl. It seems somewhat different in grain pattern compared to pipes I’ve seen labeled as “translucent”. It’s more spotted than veinous as far as I can tell. Anyhow, I will post updates if and when it progresses in the coloring process.
