I think Dunhill pipes are like Staunton chess pieces. They're the standard, and everything else is a variation of the standard. It doesn't mean other variations aren't as good or even better, but when I think of any classic shape, Dunhill comes to mind as the quintessential example.

I'd have to agree that indeed Dunhill achieved the pinnacle of defining the standard!
