My now 21 month old pup makes sure I’m up usually no later than 5/5:30 which gives me a couple of hours plus before I go to work and plenty of quiet time before the wife and the other dog get up at 6:30. Love this time, making my coffee, especially in the winter even if it is spent doing what I’m doing now - rewatching an episode of a program I fell asleep while watching last night, lol.

Although it's true that I get up an hour before anybody else in my household (of 9 humans, plus animals) -- and although it's true that my whole day feels off on the extremely rare occasions that this doesn't happen -- it's also true that I've always found early mornings pregnant with a certain magic, so to speak, even before I had a family.

If you live on a residential street (mine happens to be quasi-residential -- houses interspersed with patches of the Northwoods), and step outside before anybody else does -- before any other doors on the street have opened that day, before any cars have moved -- while the day is still in its potential, while light and hope and opportunity and life are promising to soon come into their fullness -- it's almost like the movement of time lulls, and you're caught up into a peaceful pause at that moment a shoot from a germinated seed breaks through the ground. The air is cleaner, sound moves differently, and you remember that no matter what else happens after you step back into time, you're grateful to have breathed that in.

Reading about how all you old geezers in retirement spend your mornings just confirms something that my wife said to me a few weeks ago in regards to the pipe, "You took up an old retired man's hobby."

I get up, cook breakfast for the family (sometimes my wife does this), and go to work. On days that I have to take my 5 year old daughter to school, I just hope and pray that she doesn't give me hell while I try to get her dressed and ready to go.

I get my time to decompress at night, once my kid is asleep.

If it weren't for that couple of hours before my wife wakes up, I'd hardly ever have sex. puffy
there are three possibilities here. My favorite is you got to set up all the accoutrements and get mentally psyched. Forgot the fourth which is her saying hey as long as I am not awake I don't care what we do together.

Once i equipped the smoking lounge with all my cigars, pipes, tobacco, wine and whisky after my kids got old enough to start getting into it in the office in the house, i rarely go over there anymore. I have a comfy leather chair/ottoman here that suits me just fine for the final pipe of the day, and subsequent sleep. I wake up, reach to my right and load a bowl of Pegasus before i even turn the lights on. After that it's off to make breakfast, fire up another pipe with the rest of the morning coffee, catch up on the forums and then and only then do i consider any matters of business that need attending to. Morning bliss.
