+1 to foggy. I always like your posts and will forever remember what you said about what you learned during the blackout. That post inspired many discussions with my friends and family for sure. I heard somewhere that Thanksgiving came about formally during the civil war when a day of peace was called in which union and confederate forces not only stopped their fighting but actually gathered briefly in some instances, and had a day of mourning and reflection. Now I was also informed that the following day they were back trying to slaughter one another, but I truly cringe every year when my kids bring home their turkey sculptures and pilgrim hats, because like you I want to believe there is a better beginning to this holiday of gathering than that. To be fair, this thanksgiving story was seen on one of the many American history documentaries that can be found on Netflix regarding the civil war, and I have not yet been able to substantiate it with anyone, but I still like it better than Indians and pilgrims which we all should know to be a complete propaganda joke. .
