I've never had a black and mild, but a couple guys I work with love em. They just sound gross to me.
It's an aromatic pipe tobacco wrapped in paper, then wrapped in a piece of paper made of pipe tobacco. I'd say it's worth the 79 cent gamble.

There used to be Black and Mild pipe tobacco.. I'm thinking one of those bulk blends out there is the same tobacco.

My grandfather lived on Swisher Sweets. When he passed, one wall of his bedroom was stacked almost to my height with boxes (I'm 6'3").

Anyway, he passed when I was 16, so we never smoked one together. But the grandkids all got together after the funeral and had one...an interesting experience. As a regular cigar smoker, I'll still get the urge about once-a-year to grab a pack at the gas station. I usually only smoke one (I personally think they're pretty terrible), and pitch the rest, but it reminds me of him sitting in his ratty armchair, watching boxing, and enjoying the smoke he loved...and that's what matters, smoking what you love.

De Nobilis when working. Love 'em. Tough in the pocket and fit nicely in the mouth, hold up well, when fishing, chainsawing, etc. And ...damned tasty as per my palate. Swishers are not as tough but, I can enjoy them also under the right conditions.
