Well I figured I should start September like I ended August with another Rad Davis. It is an estate piece in pristine condition from what the seller has told me. It is a shape I do not have but really like. I am sure it will be another great smoker. It is my favorite size( group 5) and pretty light. The birds eye on the top of the bowl is supposed to be real nice, the pics don't really show it, but I trust the guy who sold it to me.

I am smoking my new to me Rad as I type. As it turned out the guy I bought it off works 20 miles from my house. I just got back from picking it up and it smokes great. It is light as a feather and still has a group 5 bowl. It is amazing how Rad can produce such nice sized pipes that are so light. I am a very happy camper with my new Rad. Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Does that shape have any sort of name, or does it lean in a certain direction? Rhodesian comes to mind, but I have never been good at shape recognition.

Lazydog, that is Rad Davis's take on a Rhodesian. I think he has some of his saucer shaped pipes mixed in with this one. It is definitely a departure from my usual purchases, I am more of a traditional guy but I liked the look of this one. Plus it was the perfect size and weight I am now collection. I have only owned one Rhodesian in the past and it was a good smoker.
Thanks for the nice comments guys, I do appreciate it.

Cmon Philip, contribute to the pipe world economy and be good to yerself, buy a pipe. That is one nice take on a Rhodesian and one beautiful piece. Just stunning. I salute all pipemakers and especially the creative out of the box artists. From design to execution, these guys are fantastic. Easy to collect em, special talent to create em.

I really dig that one! Generally, I'm drawn to a more traditional looking shape but all that contrast and texture, man I love it.

It looks like that "shank extension" is actually part of the bit. If so, I have no idea how Rad does that.
This looks like a great pipe, Harris. I hope Rad has added you to his Christmas card list.

Love the shape. I gotta feeling you're really gonna like that one. Well done Harris!
